Kiehl's Vitamin C Concentrate Review

Kiehl's Vitamin C Concentrate Review

Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate Review

I have been meaning to get a review of Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate for a long time now, but keep forgetting! It is one of my favorite products, mostly because you see such an immediate overnight difference. Of course the results are sadly temporary (it isn't Botox, after all!) but they are pretty great. The other product I have been really loving for fine lines is this peel. I would recommend doing this 2-3x a week (just where you need it, pre-Botox I'd do my forehead) and the peel once a week. I promise I'll get a proper review of the peel up within the next month or two. They are such a good little duo… highly, highly effective.

Fine lines are such a pain in the butt. As we age our skin produces less and less collagen and Vitamin C can really help to stimulate collagen production. So besides those immediate results, it also will help over the long run. I tried this a few years ago (see my initial review here!) and absolutely swear by it. The combo of Vitamin C + hyaluronic acid is a very very powerful one! I'll add that this overnight peel from Beautycounter is very similar (and great if you want a product that is fully clean), but if forced to choose between the two I would go with the Kiehl's!

Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate Review

In terms of how and when to use it I would probably recommend this or the peel 2-3x a week, lactic acid 1-2x a week, retinol 2x a week, and a couple of off nights to give your skin a break. That is what works best for me… I will say that less is more: one active ingredient at a time, and if your skin feels tight or irritated, give it a break!

Kiehl's is a brand I really trust. They were the first "fancy" skincare brand I ever tried, back in 2006 when I first moved to New York. They make some incredible products, everything is dermatologist tested, they don't test on animals, etc.

What Is Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate?

This is a Vitamin C face serum that reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles. This is great for all skin types (it's gentle enough for sensitive skin) and targets fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, and dullness and uneven texture. I will get more into the key active ingredients below but the formula is paraben-free, alcohol-free, mineral oil-free, and dye-free.

What is Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate Good For?

Boosts Radiance!

Reduces Fine Lines and Wrinkles (temporarily – the results are noticeable immediately and it will visibly reduce fine lines, but over two weeks you'll see the most meaningful difference.)

Helps improve skin texture (skin is noticeably smoother the next day.)

Plumps up the skin (hyaluronic acid is great for this!)

Firms the skin over time.

How To Use Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate

I recently learned that you can use this in the morning AND evening but I prefer it at night. In the morning, I use this Biossance Vitamin C serum. As mentioned above, I use this a couple nights a week, specifically on my forehead. I will often use the Biossance lactic acid serum on the rest of my face. You can apply it directly to your skin after cleansing (or after essence if you use that!).

As you blend it into the skin you might experience a slight warming sensation. Let it sink in for 15 minutes or so and then top off with moisturizer. I often disobey the rules and top this off with Dr. Bader, or you can use this one from Dr. Sobel which I love almost as much (review of that one here!). Or, if skin is really dry, top with oil!

Avoid the eye area. They make a separate eye treatment which in my opinion was good but not great. (This is still my favorite eye treatment, if you wanted to know!)

The formula itself is pretty hydrating thanks to hyaluronic acid. After letting it sink in for 15 minutes or so you will be able to tell what to apply over it… if anything at all!

Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate Key Ingredients

Pure Vitamin C (12.5%):   Helps reduce the look of fine lines and improves the look of skin texture. I like that this is so highly concentrated with Vitamin C – most serums I've tried only contain 5-10%! If we are going to be super specific it contains a blend of 10.5% L-Ascorbic Acid and 2% Ascorbyl Glucoside. Both help with fine lines. Kiehls uses a patented, water-free, stabilized Vitamin C concentrate.

Hyaluronic Acid: Smooths and plumps the look of skin. Hyaluronic acid is not an acid in that it will not exfoliate or irritate the skin… HA is an incredible moisturizer!

Is Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Vitamin C Serum Worth It?

In my opinion this product is absolutely worth the money. It makes such a noticeable difference in the texture of the skin. It's available in several sizes. Since I really only use this on my forehead the 1.7 oz. bottle lasts me a longggg time but it also comes in larger sizes: 2.5 oz and 3.4 oz.
